BNLX offer free stream of new LP

by Andrea Swensson

November 14, 2012

BNLX aren't the type of band to do anything halfway. As soon as they formed back in March 2010, husband and wife bandleaders Ed and Ashley Ackerson proved they were taking the project seriously by crafting a flashy, smoke and strobe light-flooded live show and releasing new music at a steady clip. Over the past two years they've released seven separate EPs, and this week they'll take over Cause for a huge two-night BNLXFest to celebrate the release of their first full-length LP.

The LP is out now (the official release date was yesterday), and the band has decided to stream the whole thing online in order to make sure everyone has a chance to hear the album prior to this weekend's festivities. For fans of the band, the album solidifies the driving new wave-meets-noise pop sound that they have been cultivating over their series of EPs. BNLX clearly have fun making this music, and it's fun to listen to as well. Reworked EP cuts like "Meet Me on the Barricades" and "Burn the Boats" are included along with a batch of catchy new songs; after a few listens I think "Vibrant" might be my favorite jam, and it's hard not to giggle at their 18-second tribute to the Ackersons' dog/band mascot, "Wiggy."

Stream the whole LP below, and peep the full lineup for BNLXFest on Facebook.
