The Shouting Matches added to bill for Aug. 3 Kraftskiva Street Party

by Andrea Swensson

August 03, 2013

There was already a pretty good reason to head down to the Bachelor Farmer tonight for their outdoor street fair, Kraftskiva, with the Cloak Ox playing their first show in about 18 months. But this morning, the event's organizers sweetened the deal by adding the Shouting Matches, fresh off playing a show at First Avenue last night, as the event's headliner.

It makes sense that the Shouting Matches would play an event like this. After all, the band—which features Justin Vernon of Bon Iver on vocals and guitar, Phil Cook of Megafaun on bass and organ, and Brian Moen of Peter Wolf Crier on drums—has only played a few gigs in their seven-year existence, and many of them have been outdoors at neighborhood festivals. Tonight's event should be the perfect encore to last night's swaggering, gritty, and soulful set at First Ave.

Here are set times for tonight's Kraftskiva, taking place in the warehouse district of Minneapolis on 2nd Ave., between 1st St. N. and Azine Way:

5 p.m. - DJ Jonathan Ackerman

6 p.m. - Joey Ryan and the Inks

7:15 p.m. - The Cloak Ox

8:30 p.m. - Shouting Matches
