Prince’s Spanish luxury villa can be yours for just eight million dollars

by Jay Gabler

April 28, 2014

It's Prince's house of pain, but it can be your new dream home: a 13-room villa on the coast of the Alboran Sea in southern Spain. "Music Star Prince's Villa IN Marbella West For Sale!" enthuses the listing on LuxuryEstate.com. "Love Your Dreams...and Live Your Dreams!"

Don't expect to find any 3RDEYEGIRL merch or Super Bowl towels lying around: Prince hasn't visited the house in more than ten years, notes Consequence of Sound. He bought it in 1998 while enjoying his last days of wedded bliss with Mayte Garcia; the couple divorced that year. Before Prince left the premises forever, though, the house served as "the inspiring scenario for many of his beautiful songs," if the listing is to be believed.

In addition to its celebrity cachet, this modest little "pied á terre" features "an enormous colonial style double staircase with white marble balustrades sweeping down to the grand, chandeliered entrance hall," two master bedroom suites with three additional bedroom suites for your golf buddies, and "a host of luxurious features which include sunken bath, outdoor jacuzzi, marble floors, air conditioning throughout, inside and outside security with camera system, security room, electric generator, water tanks, irrigation system and a water well."

In other words, you'll be comfortable pre- or post-apocalypse in this cozy retreat. All this for just under eight million dollars, the approximate cost of several dozen undeveloped acres in the Twin Cities greater metro area. Life is all about priorities—and we know what Prince's are...or, at least, were.
