Trampled By Turtles, Doomtree, Low, and Haley Bonar to play Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park on June 28

by KT Lindemann

April 22, 2014

On Saturday, June 28, Trampled By Turtles will headline one of Minnesota's favorite outdoor venues—Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park—with special guests Doomtree, Low, and Haley Bonar. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 25th, at noon.

The Trampled By Turtles crew have been busy as of late, and don’t seem to plan on slowing down. Dave Simonett released his Razor Pony EP earlier this year and made a guest appearance on Heiruspecs’ Night Falls, and the band supported their friends and fellow roots rockers Pert Near Sandstone at the release party of their album The Hardest Part of Leaving. The Bayfront show comes just two weeks before the release of Trampled By Turtles’ forthcoming album, Wild Animals—produced by Alan Sparhawk of Low and Retribution Gospel Choir—and if their video vignette and recently shared single are any indication, it’s looking to be more of a slow-burn than a foot-stomper. Trampled By Turtles are also in preparation for their inaugural Festival Palomino at Canterbury Park on September 20. Not to mention, they’ve pulled all this off on top of a lengthy US tour.

But Trampled by Turtles aren’t the only group of the four with big plans this summer. The show follows an exciting milestone for opener Bonar, whose upcoming Last War will be released May 20 on Graveface Records. Bonar released a single from the album, “Kill the Fun,” earlier this month via Stereogum. Doomtree’s Dessa will also be fresh off her appearance at Rock the Garden on June 22.

The all-ages waterfront extravaganza showcases of some of Minnesota’s best musical talent. You might want to think about investing in some sunscreen (after snagging a ticket, of course).
