2014 Stone Arch Bridge Festival lineup to include Cactus Blossoms, Sean Anonymous, Greg Grease, more

by Ellie Fuqua

May 20, 2014

The Stone Arch Bridge Festival, a free three-day event on Father’s Day weekend, June 13-15, released their music lineup today. The festival will feature over 40 local bands performing an eclectic mix of genres from folk to hip-hop. These musicians will be dispersed among three stages near the festival's iconic namesake landmark: under the Central Avenue Bridge, on Water Power Park, and in Father Hennepin Park.

Nailing down the list of performers was not an easy task for the festival coordinators. Over 125 bands applied for a spot to perform. “Every year I’m humbled by the amount of talent that applies to perform,” said entertainment coordinator Stacy Schwartz in the press release. “It’s difficult to choose a lineup, but it also means I get to check out some new bands, which is always fun,”

The kickoff concert of the festival will be Friday the 14th from 6:00-10:00 p.m. The festival will also welcome over 250 visual artists for the weekend. “We are especially excited for this year with a mix of both returning musicians and artists and a number of new faces. We’re looking forward to another great weekend of arts and entertainment,” said Matt Mithun, festival owner, in the press release. Mithun acquired the festival in 2012 after the death of festival founder Ira Helicher, preserving the event as an annual tradition.
