After years of planning and construction, the Twin Cities are finally ready to welcome Metro Transit's Green Line, providing direct light rail service between the downtowns of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Here at the Current, we're proud that the line rolls right past our doorstep. Here's a bird's-eye view of the line, as seen from the fourth floor of Minnesota Public Radio's St. Paul studios in a feed created by our videographer Nate Ryan. Watch the trains go!
There are lots of opportunities to celebrate the Green Line's debut, and we hope you'll join us at St. Paul's Union Depot for a day of live music and festivities with Doomtree, the 4onthefloor, Koo Koo Kanga Roo, Southwire, and Southside Desire. There will be music all along the line; here are the details on where and when the bands are, from Union Depot to Target Field. Once you've given the Green Line a go, get ready for Northern Spark and lots more weekend shows!
Update: Metro Transit has announced that due to the stormy weather, outdoor events are canceled. The Current's party at the Union Depot is continuing as scheduled, taking place indoors.
