Strange Names to headline Tilia’s Augtoberfest as last Minnesota gig before moving to NYC

by Lillian Speakman

August 13, 2014

For those of you looking to satisfy your summer block party cravings, this weekend offers the perfect opportunity: Tilia is hosting their fourth annual Augtoberfest (like Octoberfest, but on August—get it?) this Sunday, August 17 in Linden Hills from 2:00 to 10:00.  Great food and drinks, live music, and family fun can all be found this Sunday at 2726 43rd St., Minneapolis.

The lineup will feature Strange Names, Frankie Teardrop, Black Diet, and Narco States all a part of the music lineup. The event will also feature food from Tilia, 128 Café, Red Wagon Pizza, and Black Walnut Bakery, as well as Craft Beer and Wine from Bourget Imports.  Creative face painting, balloon bending, and a bouncy tent will also be provided for the kiddies—and those of us who are young at heart.

The block party also serves as the last show in Minneapolis for local band Strange Names. The band will be leaving for New York City after having recently signed a contract with French Kiss Records. "Regardless" of their move, the band posted on Facebook, "we are a band from Minneapolis. Minneapolis is a part of our livelihood, and there are few places that accommodate its artists like this. Truth."

The full music lineup includes Strange Names, Narco States, Kevin Bowe & the Okemah Prophets, Frankie Teardrop, DJ Truckstache, Black Diet, and Umami. This year, part of the Augtoberfest proceeds will be donated to both the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council and Linden Hills Business Association. Admission to Augtoberfest 2014 is $7.
