Today’s Music News: The Civil Wars Are Over

The Civil Wars' have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2012, but the Nashville duo officially ended their partnership yesterday. There was "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition" during 2012 for the 4-time Grammy winning duo, but they were still releasing music. Now, however, they have gone their separate ways to pursue solo careers. (Consequence of Sound)

XL Recordings is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a comp featuring many artists they've worked with over the years. Adele, Jack White, and Radiohead will all be featured on the special release. Pay Close Attention will be available August 25 as a four-LP box set, CD or download. The first half will follow the success they've had with DJs and dance music, and the second half will focus on individual artists that they've worked with. (Rolling Stone)

While he may be better know for his work with Pulp or as a pop music dj for the BBC's Radio 4, Jarvis Cocker is a man with many interests. Cocker is working to broaden the appeal of orchestral music by staging a new symphony on September 10, to kick off the new campaign.
