This spring the Rembrandts, a Minneapolis group who became ubiquitous in the 90s when they contributed the hit theme song "I'll Be There For You" to Friends, announced that they'd be a part of the show's 20th anniversary celebrations. The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived—no, not Ross and Rachel hooking up, the Rembrandts finally playing Central Perk!
Last night in New York, the Rembrandts' Danny Wilde and Phil Solem played "I'll Be There For You" at a Central Perk pop-up shop. They were introduced by James Michael Tyler, the actor who played the manager of the Friends' favorite java-slinging hangout. For an encore, Tyler joined Wilde and Solem for a verse of "Smelly Cat," the theme of Friends character Phoebe.
