Just two days before the 2014 general state election, Congressman Keith Ellison will host a Minnesota hip-hop-star-studded event billed as #GetOuttheVoteMN in the Mainroom of First Avenue.

The November 2 show will feature a pair of hip-hop acts that have new albums out this fall—Sims, who released Field Notes just last month; and Toki Wright and Big Cats, who just celebrated the release of their acclaimed Pangaea—plus St. Paul stalwarts Heiruspecs, the MC and spoken-word artist Guante, and roots-rock frontman Gabriel Douglas of the 4onthefloor. Additional special guests are also planned.

Similar to the event he threw in 2012, proceeds from #GetOuttheVoteMN will go toward the Keith Ellison for Congress campaign. Tickets and more info available at First Avenue’s site.

Here’s the flyer for the event:

wow! You are having Keith Ellison, host this??? You do realize he is under investigation for fraud. For stealing from the non-profit, Community Action of Minneapolis that is suppose to help low income people pay for heat, The non -profit ran out of funds to help people. Board members during the period audited included U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, Minneapolis City Council. He stole from the people. He stole from every Minnesotan that paid taxes. Is that really who want representing the right to vote? This story has not gotten the coverage it deserves.
