'Tis the season for holiday music, and of course for us that means holiday music by Minnesota's many talented artists. There are lots of opportunities for you to listen local this holiday season—including six very special hours this coming Monday, Dec. 22.

The seasonal sounds have already begun on Wonderground, where Barb Abney has been curating a holiday-themed, family-friendly playlist that runs 24/7; and on Classical MPR, where a holiday stream features continuous classical music appropriate to this festive time of year. (Click here for more on Classical MPR's holiday programming, including a sing-along carol celebration this Friday afternoon.)

The holiday fun continues on the Current, where you'll hear hosts dropping Christmas jams throughout the season. On Saturday morning, Dec. 20, from 8:00-10:00 a.m., Jacqui Fuller will spin some seasonal favorites from the Teenage Kicks era; and the next day, Dec. 21, Bill DeVille will play Americana holiday songs from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Also listen for a special, seasonal honey-do list that morning!

Then, Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., David Campbell will present a holiday edition of the Local Show: two hours of Minnesota-made holiday music, including brand-new Christmas jams featuring Jeremy Messersmith, Eric Mayson, and Caroline Smith.

That episode will be rebroadcast starting at noon the following day—Monday, Dec. 22—on our Local Current stream of Minnesota music. Following the rebroadcast, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Local Current, Andrea Swensson and I will present four more hours of local holiday music. We'll also update you on a few don't-miss upcoming gigs in town, we'll swap holiday stories, and we'll share some of our annual holiday traditions here at The Current.

Happy holidays from all of at The Current and Classical MPR. We'll provide the sweet soundtrack, you bring the egg nog.
