by Aaron Bolton

December 02, 2014

Nicholas David

Soulful singer Nicholas David released his newest EP, Make Hope. The EP is his second release since finishing in third place on The Voice in 2012; he previewed two songs from the new release almost a year ago when he stopped by the Current's studios. David is now rehearsing for his December shows, including a Saturday gig at the Fitzgerald Theater.

Kingdom Hearts is Major the General’s latest EP, and he will be celebrating that release tonight at the 7th Street Entry. The young rapper will be accompanied by Matt Dylan and the Overflow, Nick Travae, and more. Major the General’s Wiz-Khalifa-influenced style is a unique addition to the Twin Cities hip-hop scene.

The Velveteens

Suns Up from the Velveteens drops this Saturday. The Minneapolis trio will be at the Hexagon Bar to release the new record by way of MJ MJ records and the Old Blackberry Way. The group is going all vintage with Suns Up being pressed on vinyl and released on cassette as well. “Moonlight Floral” is a good introduction to the Velveteens' sound, with crooned vocals and atmospheric reverb-soaked guitar.

Rupert Angeleyes

Psych-pop band Rupert Angeleyes are known for their vintage sound, and they're keeping that sound alive and well on their new release Young Sunset. You can catch Rupert Angeleyes at the Triple Rock on Saturday for the release show. France Camp, Kitten Forever, and Real Numbers are also on the bill.
