Mighty Mofos, Trailer Trash, and more to play Dan Boardman benefit

by Brenda Tran

February 27, 2015

On Mar. 14, a benefit for Dan Boardman will take place at the Eagles Club 34 in Minneapolis. The local music veteran was diagnosed with advanced stage pancreatic cancer this past November; proceeds from the benefit will support Boardman and his family. The benefit will include food, a silent auction, and music by special guests including the Mighty Mofos, Trailer Trash, and Floorshakers.

Boardman has been a member of innumerable local bands, as his friends commenting on the Facebook event for the benefit can attest. Perhaps Boardman's best-known band are the Spectors—described by Stingray Green as "a blood-soaked traveling cage match disguised as a beat band." Boardman has also been a member of Turtlenex, the Leafy Green Things, and the Floorshakers, to name a few. Among the roles Boardman has played are guitarist, bassist, drummer, vocalist, and studio engineer.

The benefit will take place at Eagles Club 34 on Mar. 14 starting at 6:00 p.m. More information is available at Boardman's CaringBridge page, and a fund for Boardman and his family has been established via the Security State Bank of Marine on St. Croix—contact the bank for information on how to donate.
