Frankie Lee: American Dreamer

Frankie Lee will be celebrating the release of his American Dreamer video at the Turf Club on Saturday. This will be sort of a visual EP, a la Beyoncé: five new songs, five new videos. Above, Frankie Lee performs a song from his 2013 release Middle West.

Har-di-Har: Har-di-Har

Har-di-Har are husband and wife Julie and Andrew Thoreen. The single “We Scare Each Other” off the new EP is a beautiful pop oddity full of broken beats and psyched-out keys that drone along with light horns that follow the duo's warm vocals up and out of verses. Catch Har-di-Har at Bedlam Lowertown on Saturday for the EP release and tour kickoff.

Wilkinson James: Wilkinson James

Folk duo Wilkinson James, distinctive for their bright harmonies and highly visual lyrics, are releasing their self-titled debut at Harriet Brewing on Friday. They sing stories of day-to-day relationships with their bare-bones acoustic songs transporting you to a porch somewhere in the Appalachians (or, perhaps, in their home town of Minneapolis). Other tracks feature a much fuller sound when a backing band joins the pair. The Little Big Band will be joining them for the release.

Danami: Before the Wait

Soulful rapper Danami is creating an intermedia experience for the release of his Before The Wait EP. The release show, appropriately titled Soulnami, is on Sunday at Intermedia Arts. The show is a part concert, part theater performance, intended to celebrate Danami’s transition to being a soul artist.
