Today’s Music News: Wilco cancel Indiana show over Religious Freedom Restoration Act

Wilco have canceled a May 7 performance in Indianapolis in protest of the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a recently-passed law that has been controversial due to the fact that it permits businesses to refuse customers based on their sexual orientation. "The 'Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act' feels like thinly disguised legal discrimination to us," wrote Wilco on Facebook. "Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed."

Jay-Z has launched Tidal, a new high-quality streaming music service, with support from artists including BeyoncéKanye WestJack White, and Madonna. The service started in Sweden, and was recently purchased by Jay-Z. (New York Times)

Jarvis Cocker of Pulp has designed vinyl records of fictional songs for an art exhibit called 20 Golden Greats. The exhibit, which will be on display in a Paris gallery from June 17 to August 28, will be accompanied by an instrumental soundtrack by Cocker that will be sold at the gallery as a limited edition vinyl record.
