Record Store Day 2015 in Minneapolis and St. Paul: What’s happening, where and when

by Selena Carlson

April 15, 2015

The Current will scooping the scene as well: Jill Riley, Jade, and digital producer Luke Taylor will be rolling through the Twin Towns all day long. Look for our logo fan and give The Current's team a high-five—they might just have some swag for you. Their exact timing will depend on how big a haul they make at each stop, but their plan is to start in the late morning and hit—in order—Eclipse, Down in the Valley (Golden Valley), Mill City Sound, the Electric Fetus, Hymie's, and Barely Brothers. Later that night, you can join them at the Fitz for a screening of Empire Records—with a performance by L'Assassins!

Here's what's happening on Saturday at several local record shops. For more information, click the name of each shop for a link to its website.

You can swing by Agharta Records for a sweet selection of RSD releases and an even sweeter helping of Nikkolette’s Macarons. Midwestern cuisine aficionados at the Gastrotruck will be serving up dishes just outside.

While filling your basket to the brim with RSD merch, you can relish in a local lineup of live music starting at noon: including Adam Linz's Jazz Ensemble, The Holy Broke, Matt Arthur & the Bratlanders, the Counterfactuals, the April Fools, and High Crimes.

These retro haven will offer an abundance of special discounts, releases, and in-store events for a vinyl enthusiast’s dream come true.

All three Down in the Valley locations will open early for Record Store Day, offering records and other "fun stuff" including:

· Free items with purchase: shirts, record tote bags, record adapters, beer and sausage from New Bohemia, and more while supplies last.

· VIP Members get 25% off used vinyl and can join that day.

· Giving away tickets for Soundset, Umphrey’s McGee three-day pass, Rise Against, and more.
