St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman announces State of the City Address music line-up

by Luke Taylor

April 14, 2015

For his tenth State of the City address, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman is trying something new. "We want people who would never, ever, ever think of coming to a State of the City address to come down and hear great music,” he says.

Mayor Coleman joined Jill Riley and Sean McPherson on The Current's Morning Show to talk about the music lineup for his State of the City address, scheduled for Thursday, April 16, at the newly opened Concert Hall at Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in downtown St. Paul. “We want to celebrate music in this city," the mayor says. "It’s one of the best things we’ve got going.”

The lineup features the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, jazz trumpeter Solomon Parham, Heiruspecs, Jeremy Messersmith, Dem Atlas and Chastity Brown.

“Music drives economic vitality," Mayor Coleman said on the program. "The connection between the success of your music scene, arts and culture, and the success of your city cannot be overlooked.”
