Robert Skoro: Destroyers & Makers

[bandcamp width=350 height=470 album=2168248583 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false]

Robert Skoro’s “Logicians” single from his new Destroyers & Makers EP—dropping today—was the song of the day last Friday. The track is upbeat, mystical, and introspective. Warbling piano and campfire guitar work create the bed that Skoro and Nona Maria’s vocals ride on. Skoro will be celebrating the release of Destroyers & Makers at Icehouse on May 9. He will also be playing the 331 Club's Art-A-Whirl celebration on May 16.

Noah Hoehn: Noah

Layered production is what Noah Hoehn’s new Noah release is grounded on. Hoehn plays with dynamic rhythms produced by an array of instruments on "Cool Marimba." He has a release show planned at the Aster Café on May 9.

Quigley: Initium

Minnesota expat Quigley is releasing her debut EP Initium on Friday. The now L.A.-based singer puts her own spin on her electro-pop tracks that she simply describes as “pretty,” which is good as any description you might paint her music with. “Beginning of Anything” adds a darker tinge to Quigley's L.A. pop aesthetic and makes for a great intro to the new girl on the block.

Mark Lickteig: Workin

Mark Lickteig is releasing his debut album Workin. Lickteig was drawn to soul and R&B music as a child, and it shows on the album's title track. His voice reflects life experience, confidence, and an irrepressible sense of fun. He'll be at the Crooked Pint on Saturday to celebrate this week’s release of Workin.

Mammoth Catches Fire: Mammoth Catches Fire

[bandcamp width=350 height=470 album=9552518 size=large bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5 tracklist=false]

Mammoth Catches Fire give you that same feeling you get when you watch old MTV Unplugged episodes. Although their self-titled EP isn’t an acoustic one, there’s an emotive ‘90s grunge vibe. The band play fuzzed-out guitars that can spring into a sharp twang at a moment's notice. The six-track release hit the Internet last week.
