The Walker announces their Music & Movies 2015 schedule

by Andrea Swensson

May 07, 2015

Each summer the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board's calendar of events seems to get more and more robust—this season alone they will host over 200 free concerts and screen hundreds of movies at six different parks across the city. Of all of these events, one of the more high-profile and longest-running series is the Walker Art Center's beloved Music & Movies in Loring Park, and it will run for four consecutive Mondays this summer starting July 27.

The films this year are inspired by the Walker's International Pop exhibition (which runs through August 29), and will conclude with a screening of Lotte Reiniger's The Adventures of Prince Achmed scored by experimental producer Mark McGee and his ensemble MAKR's Coven. Other musicians playing the series include Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, acoustic songwriter Chastity Brown and her full band, and the free-fallin', fun-loving Tom Petty cover band All Tomorrow's Petty.
