We’re rolling into fall with round five of Local Current’s DJ in Residence! The Current has been inviting local musicians to take over our all-Minnesota music stream to talk about the local music scene and to spin tracks from other local musicians. Martin Devaney, Sophia Eris, Al Church, and Reina del Cid have all had their turn, and now it’s time to announce our next DJ in Residence!

In September, we’re handing the mic over to Gabriel Douglas, who is best known as the mastermind frontman of local roots-rock band the 4onthefloor. You might also recognize Gabriel for his solo work, or for his groups like Silverback Colony or Orca Colony. Now, you can get to know him as Local Current’s DJ in Residence.

“I’m ready and willing to bring a little non-purple Kool-Aid to the local ‘waves,” says Gabriel. “I’ve always been enthusiastic about sharing my favorite music with people, and now I have an entire afternoon multiple times this fall to embark on the adventure. There’s so many artists I am geared up to bring to the airwaves. The immediacy of the Local Current stream is really something that strikes a chord with me.

“Listen to artists from so many time periods from the same place. Get involved in new music on a local level. Amazing.”

Spend your Friday afternoons this fall with Gabriel Douglas, delving deep into the music made, played, and enjoyed right here in Minnesota. Listen in every Friday in September from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Local Current’s DJ in Residence project is supported by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
