Banks has released a new single and video, with news that her next album will come out Sept. 30. The song's title and lyrics are NSFW — catch the video at Fader.

New doc to explore Gaye classic

Marvin Gaye’s 1971 classic What's Going On has gained added resonance for many in light of recent events. The making of the album will be chronicled in a forthcoming documentary film titled Marvin, What's Going On? The documentary will be made with the cooperation of Gaye's former wife and three children, and will feature never-before-seen archival footage. (Variety)

Today's Hollywood Bowl news

Hiss Golden Messenger are sharing a bill with Bon Iver next month at the Hollywood Bowl, and a member of Bon Iver — drummer Matt McCaughan — will appear on the next Hiss Golden Messenger album. Heart Like a Levee, out Oct. 7, will also feature contributions from Phil Cook and Tift Merritt, among others. Joe Perry is doing "better than we all first feared" after leaving a Hollywood Vampires show and being hospitalized, says Aerosmith bandmate Tom HamiltonAlice Cooper said Hollywood Vampires' Tuesday night show would go on as planned, and the Starkey Foundation said that the band's scheduled appearance at Sunday's gala benefit in St. Paul would also happen as scheduled. Erykah Badu donates concert proceeds to rape kit testing

Erykah Badu will donate proceeds from a concert in Detroit to a campaign aiming to test thousands of abandoned rape kits found in 2009 in Detroit Police Department storage. The project is named the 490 Challenge, since it costs $490 to test each kit. (Rolling Stone)

Bad Boy box set announced

Bad Boy Entertainment has announced the release of a 20th anniversary box set. The 80-track set, out Aug. 12, will feature songs by the Notorious B.I.G.NellyPuff DaddyJanelle Monaé, and many more. The anniversary celebration also includes an upcoming tour headlined by Puff Daddy along with Lil KimFaith Evans, and more Bad Boy artists. (Pitchfork)
