ZULUZULUU plan Icehouse residency, solo releases

Over the next four weeks, ZULUZULUU will be playing a residency at Icehouse in Minneapolis, with featured guests to be announced. Each week will also see a music release from the group or one of its members. "We like performing there," says band member DJ Just Nine about Icehouse. "It's a great venue."
The series will begin tonight with a show spotlighting band member Proper-T’s new EP, which is full of good vibes. "The world has a lot of negativity right now and he would like to see that turned around," says DJ Just Nine. "It's a similar message with the group as a whole that we try to convey in our music." The EP is titled AstralBeat Theories 1.

The Proper-T release will be followed by a release from band member MMYYKK the following week (AstralBeat Theories 2, Nov. 3) and then, the following week, by a Greg Grease release (AstralBeat Theories 3, Nov. 11). On the final night of the residency (Nov. 23), the band will drop the vinyl edition of their recent album What's the Price as well as a new mixtape of covers. Except for What's the Price, the new releases will be exclusively digital for now, says DJ Just Nine.
During the residency, the band are heading to Winnipeg as part of The Current's Local Music Exchange. The band was one of two winners by public vote and will be playing alongside Winona band Sleeping Jesus in Winnipeg on Nov. 12, preceded by a show with two Manitoba bands at the 7th Street Entry on Nov. 10.
"I've been to Winnipeg before — it's a crazy city. We're pretty excited about going." says DJ Just Nine. "It’s always cool to see different crowds, especially those who haven’t seen us perform or heard our music yet. See them slowly ease into what we are doing and by the end of it they’re all the way down. It’s really a cool thing to see.”
