Honeydogs’ Adam Levy grieving the loss of 21-year-old son Daniel

by Andrea Swensson

January 15, 2012

The Twin Cities music scene is mourning today after learning that Honeydogs frontman Adam Levy, a staple of the scene who has touched the lives of many through his art and community outreach work, has lost his 21-year-old son, Daniel J. Levy, to mental illness. Daniel passed away on Sunday, January 15. An obituary from his family states that he took his own life.

Daniel lived in Saratoga Springs, NY, with his mother, Jennifer Delton, but would return to the Twin Cities often to attend his father's shows and was a familiar face for those who knew Adam. He designed the cover art for one of Adam's side projects, the Bunny Clogs, whose record More! More! More! also featured contributions from his younger sisters Ava and Esther Levy.

The obituary notes that Daniel left behind "many, many friends and relatives who loved him dearly," which is clear from the outpouring of loving messages from friends and fellow musicians on Adam Levy's Facebook page. Daniel was also survived by musical uncle Noah Levy, who has drummed for the Honeydogs as well as bands like Trailer Trash.

A visitation for Daniel will be held this Wednesday in Saratoga Springs, and the family is requesting that all donations be sent to mental health treament facility Four Winds Saratoga at 30 Crescent Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
