Cloud Cult will record a live acoustic album in Minneapolis

September 17, 2013

After a successful tour in support of their 11th studio album, Love, Cloud Cult are taking it down a notch for a series of more intimate acoustic shows that will culminate in a live recording here in Minneapolis.

"This is a totally different kind of Cloud Cult performance that has been feeling really spiritually rooting for us, and we are excited to bring it on the road," frontman Craig Minowa said in their email newsletter today.

Minowa says that the band has been working to recreate their songs in a "fully acoustic" format, and will play a few Midwestern dates this fall before setting up camp at the Southern Theater in Minneapolis for three nights of recorded shows that will be assembled into a live album.

Cloud Cult will play a warm-up acoustic show at the Rochester Art Center on December 5 and record shows at the Southern on December 6, 7, and 8. Tickets are on sale now.

In other Cloud Cult news, their 2009 documentary No One Said It Would Be Easy is now streamable via Hulu. The band was also recently profiled by MN Original, and you can watch that 10-minute segment below.
