Friday Five: Strange Relations, Trampled by Turtles, and more new Minnesota music videos

by Andrea Swensson

June 06, 2014

Happy Friday! It's a picture-perfect summer day here in the Twin Cities, and anyone who manages to stay indoors until quitting time today deserves some kind of major bonus. Here's a handful of hot-off-the-presses Minnesota music videos to make the end of the work week scoot by a little faster...

Trampled by Turtles

With their new album, Wild Animals, due out July 15, Trampled by Turtles released an arty stop-motion video for their new single, "Are You Behind the Shining Star?"

Strange Relations

After tacitly keeping tabs on Strange Relations for a few years now, this new single came up and smacked me on the back of the head. The lead singer's mystical voice, the melodic hook, and the slightly off-kilter rhythms come together to create one of the most compelling local tracks I've heard lately.

MUNQS

Experimental pop artist MUNQS is getting ready to drop a new EP (find it on his Bandcamp page this Tuesday) and shipped over a new video for the EP's first single, "Drugs, Etc."

Some Pulp

Ready to get your face rocked off? Something tells me this new single from Some Pulp would fit in well alongside the other guitar-driven jams on Mary Lucia's new Rock 'n' Roll Radio show.

Crunchy Kids

Crunchy Kids get remixed by Big Cats. Enough said. Well worth the two and a half minutes of your time:
