Cloud Cult debut the trailer for their new film, ‘Unplug’
April 02, 2015
Some shows are so powerful that they feel like they will live on in our minds and hearts forever. For Cloud Cult, a trio of intimate acoustic shows they performed in Minneapolis back in December 2013 were such a smash success that they have been carefully recorded and preserved for posterity in a new film, Unplug.
Filmed at the Southern Theater, the new documentary takes viewers up close and personal and captures the magnetic, palpable connection that the band has with its devoted audience. Fans will remember that the band has already released an album recorded at the Southern Theater by the same name; Unplug: The Film accentuates the experience with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.
The documentary was directed by Cloud Cult's longtime live sound engineer and road manager, Jeff D. Johnson, and his company Motion 117 Productions, and was produced in collaboration with the band's frontman, Craig Minowa.
Unplug: The Film debuts nationally on May 1. A special Minneapolis-only debut is scheduled for April 30 at the Riverview Theater, and will include a screening of the film, a Q&A, and a meet-and-greet with Cloud Cult and Jeff D. Johnson.
