Trampled by Turtles debut tracks from new ‘Stars and Satellites’

by Andrea Swensson

January 24, 2012

Dave Simonett of Trampled by Turtles stopped by this morning to debut tracks off his band's upcoming Stars and Satellites, which comes out April 10. If you missed his spot on air, you can check out some of the new material below.

"It's two completely different activities, making a record and playing a show," Simonett said. "In the past, we tried to really maintain this energy that we have on tour and make it a live feel, but we wanted to make this a different kind of record." He says they retreated to a log cabin about 15 miles north of Duluth for the recording, where they could flesh out the songs without any interruptions. "You go in and feel like you're separated from the world a little bit, which is essential to getting work done," he explained.

Dave also hung around to participate in a live chat with fans right here on the Local Current Blog, and you can find the transcript of that chat here.
