With Poliça's debut album, Give You the Ghost, out today (and their very sold-out CD-release show happening tonight at First Ave), MPR has just announced that it's new mid-morning program, the Daily Circuit, will use the band's single "Dark Star" for its theme song.

The Daily Circuit will air every weekday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., replacing the longstanding daily shows Midmorning and Midday. 

In a blog post explaining how they chose "Dark Star" as their theme, Stephanie Curtis writes that they thought it had a good energy, sounded modern, and sets the right tone for the new program. You can listen to the edited clip of "Dark Star" below, which will be used on air, as well as the extended version of the song that we've come to know well over the past few months.

With Poliça already familiar to legions of Current listeners, it seems that this positioning will bring them a whole new level of exposure in Minnesota. It's cool to see MPR's news station supporting local artists in this way.
