Fun. show moved from The Brick to Maplewood’s Myth

by Andrea Swensson

April 02, 2012

With #1 hitmakers fun. rapidly gaining new fans on the strength of their single, "We Are Young," their upcoming Twin Cities date continues to bounce around to larger and larger venues. Their April 13 date was originally booked at the Varsity, then moved to new AEG-owned downtown Minneapolis venue The Brick. And now, after what can only be described as a deluge of negative feedback about new venue, the show has been moved to Maplewood nightclub Myth.

“Due to an aggressive ongoing renovation schedule to enable us to better accommodate our fans, The Brick will be unable to host the Fun. show on April 13," a statement reads. "We apologize for any inconvenience to the fans.”

As previously reported, The Brick received overwhelmingly negative reviews and outcries of dissatisfaction from fans after their inaugural show last month featuring Jane's Addiction. The sightlines, crowding, and overall experience were so regrettable that the venue eventually offered refunds to all attendees. Other more sparsely attended shows have had more success in the time since, but given that the fun. show was sold out it seems wise to move it to another venue until The Brick can troubleshoot the fundamental problems that exist with their space.

Varsity and Brick tickets will be honored at the new location and more will be made available today at 5 p.m. Get 'em at the Loring Pasta Bar, the Electric Fetus, or online via the Varsity's ticket outlet here. And yes, the Varsity has confirmed that the show will still be all ages.
