Rock the Garden 2012: The time-lapse video

by Andrea Swensson

June 18, 2012

It's time. In what has now become an annual tradition, the Walker Art Center has released its time-lapse video of Rock the Garden, which shows the grassy field next to the museum swell with over 10,000 people in the course of an afternoon.

This year, they've upped the ante by sandwiching the time-lapse footage into an elegant recap of the five performances at Saturday's event, creating a five-minute summary that encapsulates the energy, sunshine, and joy that defined this year's festival. I'll admit, it was difficult not to get goosebumps when the soundtrack (Trampled by Turtles' single "Alone") picked up the pace around the 3:05 mark.

Oh, and keep an eye out for an airborne Mark Wheat, who Gimme Noise also captured in an amazing GIF here.
