Bon Iver remix contest offers fans cash prizes, Spotify feature
August 02, 2012
With no new Bon Iver music on the horizon, fans have a whole new way to interact with Justin Vernon's songwriting this summer. Through a partnership with Spotify and the musician-networking site Indaba Music, the 10 tracks from Vernon's sophomore album Bon Iver, Bon Iver are being offered up for remixing.
Each track is broken down instrument by instrument into a selection of stems, allowing for maximum geek-out potential as fans delve into the specifics of Bon Iver, Bon Iver's songs (why yes that is a real live flugel horn on the sprawling "Beth/Rest"), and also come with a key and beats per minute to help with the remixing process.
And the remix project has quite the incentive: The top remix of each track will be included on a compilation that is slated to be featured on Spotify, and each of the 10 winners will receive $1,000.
