The Suburbs announce last-minute free show Tuesday night at the Amsterdam

by Andrea Swensson

September 23, 2013

If you missed the Suburbs' celebratory, soaring performance at this year's Minnesota Music-on-a-Stick show at the State Fair, you have another chance to catch them in action this week—and for free, no less. The band just revealed that they're playing a last-minute gig at St. Paul's Amsterdam Bar and Hall tomorrow night (Tuesday, September 24) before heading to New York to play the Mercury Lounge on Friday.

The show in New York will be one of the most high-profile performances outside of Minnesota that the band has played in years. It was even written up in the New Yorker this month, in a preview blurb that praised the group for maintaining their "quirky spunk and funky pop energy" 30 years into their career.

Tomorrow night's show at the Amsterdam starts at 9:30 p.m. and is 21+. More info is on the Amsterdam's site.
