Lizzo tops City Pages’ 2013 Picked to Click poll

by Andrea Swensson

October 15, 2013

City Pages music editor Reed Fischer stopped by the Current today to announce the winners in the 23rd annual Picked to Click poll, which asks local music experts to weigh in on the best and brightest new artists in our scene. As Reed noted on air today, not only does this year's Picked to Click poll feature 11 artists instead of the typical 10 due to ties, but it also carries some historical weight: For only the second time in its history the Picked to Click winner is a hip-hop artist, and this year all three of the top finalists are members of the hip-hop community.

Congrats to reigning champion Lizzo, who also won Picked to Click last year with her trio the Chalice and placed third this year with her new group, GRRRL PRTY. And to sweeten the deal even more, today is also the day her solo album, Lizzobangers, is out on Totally Gross National Product and she's just announced her record release show at the Triple Rock on December 28th.

Here are all of this year's winners, with links to their corresponding profiles in City Pages:

1. Lizzo

2. Greg Grease

3. GRRRL PRTY

4. Carroll

5. Frankie Lee

6. (tie) Pony Bwoy and Ginkgo

8. Southwire

9. Fury Things

10. (tie) Animal Lover and VANDAAM
