Atmosphere to open for Imagine Dragons at free Target All-Star Concert

by Jay Gabler

June 16, 2014

Major League Baseball's All-Star Game is an occasion for popular players from disparate teams to come together on the same field, so it's appropriate that Minneapolis indie hip-hop legends Atmosphere will share a stage with Top 40 rockers Imagine Dragons at a concert associated with the All-Star Game.

On July 12 at TCF Bank Stadium, the "Radioactive" hitmakers will headline a free concert to entertain the baseball fans who are coming to town for the July 15 All-Star Game—as well as, certainly, legions of summer school students and researchers looking for an escape from their University of Minnesota labs and libraries. Fireworks will follow.

Free tickets ("NOT FOR RESALE") will be made available to the public starting this Thursday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m. via MLB.com. Doors for the event, which will happen rain or shine—U2 having proved playing TCF Bank Stadium in the rain can be done, awesomely—will open at 5:30 p.m. on July 12.

Atmosphere were Local Current's Artist of the Month in May. Read Mark Wheat's tribute to the duo's storied career, and Andrea Swensson's review of their new album Southsiders.
