On Saturday night, Doomtree closed out their ten-day #LastBlowoutEver extravaganza with one final night in the First Avenue Mainroom. Playing to one of the most full Mainroom audiences I’ve seen, Doomtree put together a marathon show with two hour-plus sets and an intermission DJed by Fundo and featuring an all-star list of Twin Cities MCs and singers: Kristoff Krane, Big Zach, GRRRL PRTY, Har Mar Superstar, Astronautalis, I Self Devine, and Prof.
You could hear the effects of ten days of performing as hard as possible in the rappers’ voices, but it didn’t matter: the whole crew was going as hard as possible, leaving everything on the stage.
When Doomtree walked offstage before an encore without having played “Bangarang,” the whole audience started a call and response of “Doomtree! Bangarang!” Coming back and playing “Bangarang” and P.O.S’s “Get Down” back-to-back had the whole audience jumping. Doomtree closed out the night with their anthem “Team the Best Team,” putting every last drop of energy into the performance.
As soon as the song was over, P.O.S. collapsed onto the stairs, looking out over the crowd. Speechless, the crew flashed the Doomtree wings, applauding the crowd, and left the stage with a series of hugs.
