Rap duo Freez and Mike Frey are releasing their second full-length this Saturday. Freez’s Frozen French Freys has tight and concise raps over smooth production. “#MANRADIO” is a track that really shows off their talent as the beat buzzes and Freez speeds up and slows down his flow as he pleases, even dropping Dead Prez references along the way. Freez and Mike Frey will be at Icehouse on Saturday for the release show, with support from Greg Grease; Sophia Eris; Vision the Kid and Tru; and host Toki Wright.

Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders

Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders just released their debut, Heavy On My Mind, at Lee’s Liquor Lounge this past Saturday. This Americana five-piece has serious life experience, and that’s embedded in the music. “Old Friend” tells the story of a man moving on after an old friend leaves his life. Matt Arthur’s voice rambles, evoking strong imagery over the drawl of the slide guitar. Heavy On My Mind is available now.

Benny K will be at the Aster Café on Friday to celebrate the release of Lifted, a five-song EP full of emotive guitar licks and uplifting vocals. Benny K’s ability as a singer-songwriter really shines on this EP. Accompanying Benny K at the Aster is Mary Bue.
