King's Speech

Usually on Saturday nights from 11:00 p.m. to midnight, P.O.S ruins The Current with his show P.O.S is Ruining The Current. With P.O.S currently on tour, though, we're temporarily turning to another local musician to curate that time slot. Every Saturday night through June 7, tune in at 11:00 p.m. to hear The King's Speech, a show hosted by Dave King.

King is one of Minnesota's most acclaimed musicians, a drummer well-known for his work with The Bad Plus, Happy Apple, and 12 Rods. His show is likely to be as eclectic as P.O.S's, and he's kicking the month off with a show dedicated to Rush. That's right, the Canadian monsters of rock are coming to the Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday for what may be their last local performance ever, and King has decided to honor these musicians' musicians with a special hour of music.

Beyond his musical talent and eclectic taste, King is also a skilled raconteur. "Dave King is a really good drummer—and when he's not drumming, he's the greatest comedian who's never actually performed as a comedian," says Local Show host David Campbell. "Dude is hilarious."

King's radio residency begins tomorrow night, May 9, at 11:00 p.m. Tune your radio to The Current, or stream the station right here at thecurrent.org.
