Rhymesayers sets date for Target Center 20th anniversary concert

by Allegra Wallingford

June 05, 2015

As part of their ongoing 20th anniversary celebration, hip-hop label Rhymesayers has released a save-the-date for what promises to be an amazing night. The show will take place Friday, Dec. 4 at Target Center, though the lineup is TBA at the moment.

In curating the lineup for the event, Rhymesayers will have no shortage of talent to choose from. The Minneapolis-based label has released records by the likes of Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, and P.O.S, among many others. The label has been using the hashtag #Rhymesayers20 to promote other 20th anniversary events, such as the “Rhymesayers Takeover” on July 2 at the Summerfest festival in Milwaukee. They’ve simultaneously been releasing a YouTube series entitled “A Moment in Rhymesayers,” which features the label’s founders speaking about how the legendary label came to be what it is today.

Allegra Wallingford, of Eden Prairie, is a rising sophomore at the University of Notre Dame. She runs a music blog called the Suburban Hipster and drinks a lot of coffee.
