Bad Bad Hats: Psychic Reader
Need a new musical addiction? Well listener, meet Bad Bad Hats. It’s surf-rock riffs that married your favorite pop star, a band with enough ambience to give you the chills but who also know how to craft a song that makes you move. As NPR notes, “impeccable production by Brett Bullion (Bon Iver, Poliça) is programmed to fire all neural pathways associated with carefree indie rock fun.” Listen to both of the band’s new singles here; the rest of the tracks on Psychic Reader are coming your way via Afternoon Records on Friday.
Sean Anonymous & Dimitry Killstorm: Better Days
Sean Anonymous and Dimitry Killstorm gave a new flavor to the Twin Cities hip-hop scene on June 23 with Better Days. The first single “Big Bang” was particularly exciting because Lizzo and P.O.S joined in the fun. Emcee Sean Anonymous and producer Dimitry Killstorm strike a delicate balance, and you can sample them two nights in a row if you like. They take over the 7th Street Entry on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the release.
Honeystick: High Five EP
Is it satire? Hmm, I’m not sure. Honeystick’s sound has a a tinge of cheesy ’80s goodness to it, but these guys—including band member Jake BadNraD—are rocking it with their own style of pop music glory. They’re having fun with it, and so should you. Their “Hot Stuff” video will give you some pointers if you need any tips on how to get started. They will be at the Turf Club on Thursday. It’s party time.
