Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL release new song “HARDROCKLOVER”

Prince and his band 3RDEYEGIRL have surprised fans with a surprise new track, released on Soundcloud. "HARDROCKLOVER" pits rock against R&B, suggesting that what ladies really love—or, at least, the eponymous lady really loves—is the kind of guitar noise that Prince has been making lately on albums like PLECTRUM ELECTRUM. You could also interpret the lyrics as a woman-guitar metaphor, which would be a very Prince thing to do.
The detail-rich lyrics, delivered over a mid-tempo strut, include the declaration that "R&B ain't got no place—but put some hard rock on, you better cover your ears, 'cause you're about to hear a woman just scream." That kind of sentiment takes on a unique flavor coming from Prince, an artist who's played a huge role in breaking down the barriers between rock and R&B.
Speaking of flavors: "She said, 'If I don't really get to kiss you, I'm really going to make a scene.' I said, 'Oh, so you want me to be another rip in your jeans.' That's when she ordered strawberries, chocolate, and whipped cream." Did I mention this is a Prince song?
