You could also interpret the lyrics as a woman-guitar metaphor, which would be a very Prince thing to do.

The detail-rich lyrics, delivered over a mid-tempo strut, include the declaration that "R&B ain't got no place—but put some hard rock on, you better cover your ears, 'cause you're about to hear a woman just scream."
