Given that Minneapolis has been proudly celebrating its history with the majestic Ms. Jackson, it's apt that Caroline Smith has joined forces with local dance music artist Gigamesh for a cover of Jackson's 1986 hit "Control." On their version, Gigamesh and Smith channel an '80s vibe of a different color — with sparkling synths and a bouncing beat.

Gigamesh just announced a string of tour dates with Solidisco — though the tour doesn't include any local stops. He's also shared the news that he's finished an album that might be out later this spring. For her part, Smith has what's sure to be a huge show coming up next month at First Avenue.
