Reina Del Cid and her band have announced that they’ll play a residency at Icehouse in Minneapolis, before recording a new album early next year. “We can try new things, host special guests, and just have way too much fun in the middle of the week,” say the band in a Facebook event. The band promise performances ranging from “stripped down acoustic evenings to crowded stage parties.”
Since 2013, Reina Del Cid has been on a roll. “With so many performances under your belt for two years, you can’t help but improve as a band,” del Cid told the Cedar Cultural Cedar, referring to a two-year residency at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall. “So we emerged a much better live act than when we started.” In 2015, the band released an album called The Cooling and went on tour nationally.
Performances in what the band are calling their “Tuesday Night Mess Around” are taking place every other week. The series started last night, and continues on Nov. 29 and Dec. 13, with a final performance on Dec. 27. Doors each night will open at 9 p.m. ($8) with the show beginning at 9:30 (21+).
