Electric Fetus, source of Ringo’s Grammy-wear, to celebrate Beatle’s 75th birthday

by Sadie Bell

July 07, 2015

On Tuesday, July 7, the Duluth and Minneapolis locations of the Electric Fetus will be celebrating Ringo Starr's 75th birthday. Though the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee won't be here in Minnesota (yet), that certainly won't stop Minnesota from celebrating in his honor.

The Fetus is offering 20% off all Ringo and Beatles music and merchandise, rings, sunglasses, and the infamous "Ringo" Electric Fetus t-shirts and onesies. At the 2010 Grammys, Ringo wore an Electric Fetus t-shirt under his sport coat, causing quite the frenzy among local viewers. The shirt was actually a Christmas present from Ringo's nephew Christian-Philippe Quilici, who at the time worked for Vita.mn.

Ringo himself will be coming to town with his All-Starr band on Oct. 16 for a show at the State Theatre. At the Electric Fetus's Minneapolis location on Tuesday, guests can enter to win a pair of tickets to the show or a copy of Ringo's latest LP, Postcards From Paradise, which was released earlier this year.

The Electric Fetus will donate 5% of all sales to Ringo's charitable organization the Lotus Foundation, which, according to their website, supports "charitable projects aimed at advancing social welfare in diverse areas including, but not limited to: substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumours, cancer, battered women and children, homelessness and animals in need."

Any interested fans are invited to wear their "Ringo" Electric Fetus t-shirt to the Minneapolis location and arrive around 11:30 to take a group photo. Following the photo, birthday cake will be served.
